The Select Board approved meeting minutes from August 25 and 26, 2026, and manifests for September 2, 9, and an amended August 19, 2026, all by 2-0 votes. A demolition permit was approved for M. French and E. Williams to remove a fire-destroyed guest cottage, and a building permit was granted to rebuild it plus a 104 sq. ft. addition.
The Board approved an $855.00 2027 budget request for Monadnock Family Services and a $418.00 generator maintenance agreement with Powers Generator. A purchase request for M. Tarr to rent a screener for sand production at approximately $5,000 was approved.
The Board agreed to plan Safety Building rear repairs and Highway Garage door replacements for the 2027 budget and will contact a roofer for the leaking sand shed roof. A meeting will be scheduled with landowners to discuss the future of Lead Mine Road. The next meeting is September 23, 2026.

Mike moved to approve all, carrying 3-0. Brenna recused herself; the permit for S. and B. Kucinski’s shed passed 2-0. New Planning Board fees were approved 3-0. J. Filipi reported the J-ONE State Police Grant approval, requiring a $20,000 warrant article. The Board approved $1,000-1,200 for tires and ~$400 for decals for the old cruiser. Building permit fees increased to $100 plus 50 cents/square foot for residences. A letter was sent to DES regarding 707 Granite Lake Road. T. McEachern was asked to create the new weathervane fish. The next meeting is September 9, 2026.

The Board Edie will file a claim with Primex regarding the Bergeron Appeal of the Selectmen’s decision. The Board agreed unanimously not to offer discussion at the Public Hearing on Tuesday evening, instead requesting the matter be taken under advisement and continued to a future date to allow for legal consultation. Regarding the new weathervane, Brenna Kucinski informed the Board that M. Tarr declined the project. The Board will continue discussion with T. McEachern for carving. Brenna will contact Marc Stretch for information about the whale/fish design on the current weathervane. Michael Blaudschun moved to adjourn, seconded by Brenna Kucinski; the motion carried 3-0. The meeting adjourned at 4:10 PM. The next regular meeting is scheduled for August 25, 2026, at 3:00 PM in the Nelson Town Office.

The Planning Board approved fee increases: subdivision base rate to $300, variance base fee to $200, newspaper postings to $200, and abutter notices to $15 each. The vote was 3-0, with Selectboard approval slated for August 26, 2026. Minutes from the previous meeting were approved and signed.
Sandy Mackenzie will draft an upbeat conclusion for tri-fold documents and email the revised edition to members for review. Mike Blaudschun was tasked with revising zoning regulations on motor homes, with members instructed to notify the board if not completed. Mike Ezell will investigate incorporating an ordinance regarding items for sale on Tolman Pond Rd into Zoning regulations and will ask Mike Blaudschun about RSA 755 inclusion in building permits. Sandy Mackenzie will explore a warrant article or private fundraiser for planting trees at the Common. The next meeting is September 10th, time TBD.

The Nelson Select Board approved July 29 minutes and August manifests. They voted 3-0 to renew Monadnock Folklore Society's Town Hall contract, grant a US Army Corps right-of-entry for Partridge Woods, and spend $1,500 for cemetery surveying. The Board approved $1,850 for Child Advocacy of Cheshire County's 2027 budget but denied Cheshire Fair Association funding, both 3-0. They approved having M. Tarr and Nick carve a replacement weathervane for the Old Brick Schoolhouse. D. & P. Beffa-Negrini received 3-0 approval for a new building permit and demolition permit, contingent on Zoning Board conditions. Don reversed his stance, supporting town gravel pit ownership and 10-wheeler truck use. The next meeting is August 26, 2026.
