Selectmen agreed August 24 for an employee appreciation BBQ. Wastewater State Aid Grant projects were noted for FY 2027 and FY 2029. A Tax Deed Sale Agreement for 174 Krystin Lane required further discussion before final approval.

Tara Sousa announced an August 13 Planning Board hearing regarding a multi-tenant building on Sophia’s Way (Map 1, Lot 44-5). The Commission noted the site is subject to the new wetlands ordinance and abuts the Town Forest, with no other concerns raised after a brief review. Regarding Potter Woods, a trail work day is scheduled for August 11 at 10:00 am to clear downed trees on the Bronson Trail. The Commission set the Souhegan River cleanup for September 3 from 10:00 am to noon; Barbara Guay will price grabbers and post notices. The Commission received a letter from NH DES closing an investigation into a wetlands complaint against Steven Gallant of 203 Merriam Hill Rd, finding no violations. Selectmen unanimously accepted the Clean Water State Revolving Fund Loan Agreement for a $400,000 bond regarding wastewater treatment plant improvements. The vote was 3-0, authorizing Town Administrator Tara Sousa to sign the agreement and related documents. A motion to hire Tyler Witfoth as a Grade 1 Water/Wastewater Operator at $32.50/hour also passed 3-0. Witfoth and Brian Golec will coordinate schedules to cover weekend rounds at both plants. The Town Administrator reported that recent heavy rain caused a violation of the wastewater plant’s effluent pH standard due to increased flow, though compliance is expected as flows recede. Additionally, a Department of Labor visit confirmed the location of most required safety equipment at the wastewater plant, and Sousa noted that ongoing confined space training for herself and Highway Department staff was proceeding well. The Board voted 3-0 to approve a $2,000 water bill abatement for Old Dutch Mustard due to iron bacteria issues. DES officials warned that the town currently lacks a required Grade 3 water operator, carrying a public health risk and prompting an impending violation notice for lead and copper rule exceedance. The Board agreed to develop a plan to hire qualified operators and apply for a $2,000 training scholarship. The Board tabled deliberation on a 79-e application until July 29 to clarify covenant requirements. Selectman McNamara will attend a meeting with the Department of Labor regarding October 2024 findings.
