Greenville Conservation Commission 
Meeting Minutes 
Monday August 10, 2026 7:00 pm 
 
The meeting was called to order at 7:07 pm. In attendance were members Marshall Buttrick, 
Barbara Guay, and Peter Simonson.  
The minutes of the meeting of July 13, 2026 were reviewed, no corrections. Marshall Buttrick 
moved to accept the minutes. Voted in the affirmative 3-0.  
Tara Sousa, Town Administrator, attended the meeting. The Conservation Commission agreed to 
re-order the agenda and permit Ms. Sousa to speak first, before Old Business. 
New Business Item: 
Ms. Sousa communicated to us there was to be a Planning Board meeting on August 13, a 
hearing on a Conditional Use application and on a Site Plan Review, both for a proposed 
building on Sophia’s Way, map 1, lot 44-5. The building is a multi-tenant structure for a concrete 
contractor, plus several smaller contractors. The site is subject to the new wetlands ordinance, 
and it abuts the Town Forest conservation property.  The Conservation Commission noted that 
this did not appear on the Planning Board pages of the town web site. An initial review noted the 
wetlands and the score on the on the habitat co-occurrence map of 3 key habitats. No other 
concerns were raised, however, the Commission had only brief review of the site plan and 
stormwater runoff analysis.  Mr. Buttrick and Mr. Simonson expressed interest in attending the 
Planning Board hearing.  
Old Business: 
Souhegan River: Nothing to report.  
Nashua River Watershed: Nothing to report  
21 Chamberlin St (No. 6 Mill) Site Plan Status:  It was noted that a party had inquired whether 
someone other than the applicant could use the Planning Board approval of the site plan.  
Coordination with Town of Mason on the Potter Woods conservation properties:   
A planned trail work day for Tuesday August 11 at 10:00 am, for clearing the downed trees and 
brush on the Bronson Trail extent on the private land.  
River Cleanup: The Commission set the clean up date for September 3 from 10:00 am to noon. 
Barbara Guay indicated she would price out litter grabbers. She also agreed to make and post 
notices, including at the post office. Notice to say, “The Greenville Conservation Commission is 
Conducting a clean up of the Souhegan River on September 3, 2026 from 10:00 am to 12:00 

noon. Meet at the parking lot behind 32 Mill St.  For additional information contact Marshall 
Buttrick 603-878-4117. 
Parcel of Public Land: No additional progress reported.  
New Business:  
Invasive Species: Barbara Guay reported that the Spotted Lantern Fly has been found in nearby 
Fitchburg. This insect threatens agriculture like grapes, orchards, and maple syrup. Barbara had 
coordinated a presentation on this invasive insect at the Greenville Library to be given by a 
scientist with the NH Department of Agriculture, and was finalizing the date. The Commission 
agreed, and would support whatever the finalized presentation date was.  
Correspondence Received:  The Commission received a copy of a letter on an investigation by 
NH DES of Steven Gallant of 203 Merriam Hill Rd, Map 1 lot 60, regarding a wetlands 
complaint. The Commission had reviewed notice of the complaint at its June 8 meeting. The NH 
DES concluded in its investigation and property inspection that no violations of NH RSA 482-A 
and applicable rules had occurred, and the matter was closed.  
There were no further items from the Commission members or the public. 
The next Conservation Commission meeting will be Monday September 14, 2026 at 7:00 pm at 
the town hall downstairs meeting room.  
Marshall Buttrick moved to adjourn this meeting, seconded by Peter Simonson, and the 
Commission voted 3-0 in the affirmative. The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 pm.
