The Conservation Commission approved minutes from August 27, 2026, with a 5-0 vote. Russ Wilder signed off on two Wetland Permits By Notification for William Moores regarding dock work and New Hampshire Electric Cooperative for utility cable replacement. The Commission expressed no objections to Standard Wetlands applications for the Evans Family Rev. Trust and Lois A. Day Rev. Trust for dock modifications. For Eric & Christine Johnson's perched beach proposal, the Commission requested confirmation the site is not a wetland. No objections were raised for Madge Nickerson's subsurface disposal system. Russ Wilder moved to pay a $320.00 VRAP invoice, passing with 3 yes and 1 abstain votes. A Master Plan Implementation Committee meeting is set for September 21, 2026. Another site visit for Sawmill Brook is scheduled for September 26, 2026. The next meeting is September 24, 2026.

Valerie Tarbell, Kathryn Carpentier, and Lisa Kellar met to process voter registration updates. A motion by Valerie Tarbell, seconded by Kathryn Carpentier, approved 395 changes to the Voter Alpha List. This included adding 15 voters new to New Hampshire and 13 transferring to Alton. Updates for 4 voters with name, address, or party changes were approved. Removals occurred for 1 voter registering elsewhere in New Hampshire and 4 deceased voters. The largest category removed 355 voters through Annual Verification, with 3 voters reregistered via this process. An updated Alpha List was printed and posted at the Town Clerk's Office. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 10:00 am. The session ran from 10:00 A.M. to 2:30 P.M.

The Conservation Commission approved financial actions by moving $100,000 from savings and combining it with a maturing CD to purchase a new 9-month CD at 3.8% interest; this motion passed unanimously. The Treasurer reported the Conservation Fund totals $394,275 with an additional $110,990 in the maturing CD.
Minutes from August 13, 2026, passed with 6 yea votes and one abstention from Tom Diveny. The Commission approved a letter of support for the Half Moon Lake Association’s 319 grant application for phase II of their mitigation plan.
The Commission agreed to sponsor a "State of the Lake" presentation by Lake Winnipesaukee Alliance on September 21 at 5:00 pm at Ames Farm. Monitoring letters for Current Everlasting properties will be sent after Labor Day, with monitoring to follow.

Leah Shea’s PBN for a boat ramp at 272 Big Barndoor Island was reviewed, requiring additional delineation and erosion control details. Robert Morin’s two PBNs for 328 Sleeper Island regarding dock and breakwater work, and stump removal, drew comments requesting reference line delineation, debris disposal plans, and shrub protection. Jana Sunshine’s SPBN and Jennifer McCullough’s SP received no comments.
The Commission approved a letter of support for the Halfmoon Lake Association’s grant application and agreed to sponsor a "State of the Lake" presentation on September 21. Monitoring letters for conservation easements will be sent after Labor Day. The next meeting is September 10, 2026.

Gene Young chaired the August 13, 2026 Alton Conservation Commission meeting. Minutes from July 23, 2026, were approved with 4 yes and 2 abstain votes. The Commission reviewed several permit applications, including zoning requests and Shoreland permits. For David Devito’s dock extension application (STDWET 2026-02165), the Commission required details showing the permanent impact square footage of the dock extensions. The Cascade Terrace Beach Association (PBN2026-02081) was asked to provide details on the block walls specified in their proposal. The Commission stated no objections to the Frisella (SP2023-01760), Wingate-Dawson (SP2026-01944), and Decker (SP2026-01945) Shoreland permit applications. A smelt survey indicated increased numbers compared to recent lows. The next meeting is scheduled for August 27, 2026, at 6pm.
