The Selectboard discussed Alternative 2 Concept Design for the Town Office Building parking lot and driveways, featuring 22 parking spaces and a widened entrance/exit. The plan includes a driveway wide enough for fire trucks, ADA compliance spaces, and a grassed hatched area to permeate water runoff. Board members agreed to coordinate with NHDOT District 2 regarding the design and potentially contact NHDES after that discussion. The group plans to contact Dig Safe concerning the propane line and will relocate the mailbox. BETA representatives will provide a written summary of the concept design to Anna White, who will forward it to Selectboard member Charlie Smith in approximately two weeks to discuss next actions. Kevin Follensbee made a motion to adjourn at 1:18 pm, seconded by Charles Smith, Jr., which passed.

The Selectboard approved the minutes from August 12, 2026, on a motion by Follensbee and seconded by Taylor. The Board chose Concept 2 for the Town Office Parking Lot Paving project due to drainage concerns and directed Smith, Jr., to obtain engineer quotes. The Board approved Neighbors Unite’s application to use town properties on September 5 and 19, 2026, for a raffle. Election setup is scheduled for September 7 from 3-5 p.m. in the Niles Room; Follensbee will cover election duties from 7 a.m. to noon, and Taylor from noon to 7 p.m. Road Agent Nutter reported the Archertown Road culvert replacement will close the road on September 8. The Board moved to issue an RFP for engineering work regarding future culvert replacements on Quinttown Road. The meeting adjourned at 7:03 p.m.

The Selectboard approved the July 22, 2026 minutes via a motion by Taylor and Smith Jr. Chris Crowley sought permission to obtain legal counsel regarding four unused perpetual care trust funds totaling approximately $12,000, which the board granted. Terry Martin requested renegotiating the Community Field lease to reduce costs due to decreased usage; the board agreed to meet in the Spring to discuss the 2027-2028 contract, though the current 2026-2027 contract remains active. Project updates included: the Archertown Bridge concrete installation is underway; Smith is awaiting an engineering concept design for the Town Office Parking Lot paving; and the Highway Department will repair Quinttown Road railings and remove the transfer station oil tank. In new business, the board signed the Morton Salt contract and referred a Dame Hill Road property complaint and dog barking complaint to the Police Department. Manifests, payroll, and accounts payable were reviewed and signed.

The Selectboard met with Equipment East LLC from Bow, NH, to review loader options for a warrant article to be presented at the 2027 Town Meeting. They also discussed mechanical issues with the Town of Orford’s current loader. Present members were Kevin Follensbee, Charles Smith, Jr., and Larry Taylor, along with Road Agent Ted Nutter. A motion to adjourn, made by Follensbee and seconded by Taylor, passed with a vote of 3-0.

Selectboard Minutes 07-22-2026.pdf: Smith, seconded by Taylor, moved to accept minutes from 7/8/2026; motion passed. Board agreed to purchase 3,200 yards of sand from Custom Crushing for winter preparation. Road Agent Nutter will obtain quotes to repair the existing loader, rather than replacing it. Taylor will meet with the highway department regarding pole shed construction using funds from a current warrant article. The board reviewed handouts on C-Pacer (Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy) to determine future action. NHDOT approved a change order reducing steel for the bridge project. The board signed a request allowing use of East Common for the annual flea market. Following an email from Tex Whiting, the board decided not to sell town-owned property 8-91 B-036 at this time. Water test results for town swimming locations were confirmed safe. The meeting entered non-public session at 7:10 p.m. under RSA 91-A:3, II(a) and reconvened at 7:25 p.m.
