The committee reviewed ongoing projects, noting all exterior lighting is complete except for two fixtures. Mini split installation at MA awaits the electrician, as does the MCS roof generator and MA propane valve update. Insulation at MA is finished, excluding offices, and MCS kitchen installation is in progress. Movers will return MCS classroom furniture on September 1st, with the principal and admin moving to the main office on August 26th. The committee identified due Unit B needs replacement with double doors due to sinking ground and rusted posts. Architect clarification regarding ADA compliance and costs for bus entrance stairs and ramps will be sought for summer 2027 construction. Regarding electric buses, the committee agreed to bring the student proposal to the Board, citing concerns about spacing, safety, and power sources. Building and Grounds Committee Meeting Minutes Tuesday, August 18, 2026 – 12:00 p.m. SAU Conference Room Present: Tucker Burton, Dave Butler, Pat Hart, Michael Whaland and Amanda Bergquist The meeting began at 12:05. Clarification is needed on cost regarding freezer/fridge shelves. All Lights are done outside of waiting on two. Mini split at MA installed waiting on the electrician. Oven is pending. Generator on roof at MCS waiting for the electrician. Update on propane valve at MA, still pending may happen once school starts. Movers are confirmed for September 1st at MCS to place furniture back in the teacher's classrooms. MCS principal and admin assistant to be moved back into the main office on the 26th. Looking into replacing Unit B - to add double doors. Ground is sinking/ posts are rusted out. Should update prior to paving. Will look into cost estimates. At the same time the stairs by bus entrance need to be updated ADA & wheelchair ramp/ sidewalk will get clarification from the architect and cost/ scheduling. To be done summer 2027. Insulation at MA has been completed except MA offices. MCS kitchen install is being done this week First student proposal was shared. Two years ago the Board agreed to accept electric buses. No financial obligation. Concerned about spacing of the proposed bus area. Concerns about students walking in this area. Questions around replacements, who is responsible down the road. Additional question regarding electric bus mileage distance. Questions regarding where the power comes from? The committee agreed to bring this proposal to the Board.
