Sam Kent was unanimously appointed to fill the Selectboard vacancy for a one-year term. Officers were elected unanimously: Alex Winn as Chairman and Judy Idelkope as Vice-Chair. Minutes from January 27th passed unanimously, while February 3rd minutes passed by majority with Sandra abstaining. The School District voted 54-51 to add $120,000 for a third-grade teacher, though hiring will depend on enrollment. The town budget is 23% expended after the first quarter. Ware’s Grove building demolition is delayed until fall. The nurse position is filled, while two custodial roles remain vacant. The next meeting is July 7th at 7 PM. TOWN OF CHESTERFIELD BUDGET COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES APRIL 14, 2026 Present: Alex Winn, Chairman; Brad Roscoe, Selectboard Representative; Bob Sutherland, Sandra Jaskolski, Judy Idelkope, Vice-Chair; Rick Cooper, Chesterfield Fire & Rescue Precinct Representative; Burt Riendeau, John Schreiver and Bruce Soltys, School Board Representative. Absent: Karen Denzler, Tammy Bischof, Spofford Fire Precinct Representative; Leslie Frank Alex called the meeting to order at 7:02 PM Vacancy – Sam Kent was present to fill the vacancy that was created when Brad Roscoe was elected to Selectboard. Sam was on the ballot in March. Brad moved to appoint Sam to the Committee for a 1 year term. The motion was seconded by Bob and passed unanimously. Sam will be sworn in prior to the next meeting. Minutes – Brad moved January 27th minutes for discussion. The motion was seconded by John. Brad moved January 27th as amended. The motion was seconded by Rick and passed unanimously. Brad moved February 3rd minutes for discussion. The motion was seconded by Rick. Brad moved to approve February 3rd as submitted. Rick seconded the motion. Sandra abstained. The motion passed by majority. Officers – Brad moved to appoint Alex Winn as Chairman. The motion was seconded by Bruce. The motion passed unanimously. Brad moved to appoint Judy Idelkope for Vice-Chair. The motion was seconded by Rick. The motion passed unanimously. Discussion - Alex discussed the inability to change warrant articles during deliberations. The Committee discussed an overview of the Budget process for Sam. Town – Quarterly Report. The Budget is 23% expended after the 1st quarter. No fence is up yet for Ware’s Grove. The plan is to wait until fall to demo the building now. School – a vote passed 54 to 51 to add an additional $120,000 to the budget for a 3rd grade teacher. There is already a student that has withdrawn from that class. The plan is to wait and see enrollment before hiring for the position. The Full-Time Nurse position was just filled beginning in February. There are 2 vacant full-time custodial positions. Chesterfield Fire & Rescue Precinct – 143 Calls this year to date. 319 total for 2025. Budget is just starting. Adjournment – The next meeting is scheduled for July 7th at 7 PM.
