Phase II at MCS remains on budget and on time. The MCS generator is scheduled for installation tomorrow, while the MA generator servicing is set for August 1st. Kitchen coolers and the oven hood at MCS are planned for installation next week. Insulation work at the MA C Wing and Cafeteria is scheduled for July 22, 2026, with a return possibly over Thanksgiving break. Rebates for boilers have been received, and lighting rebates are pending. The MCS stair revision and wheelchair walkway project is on hold due to coordination difficulties. The committee discussed replacing or repairing Air Handler #5 at MA, noting access would require cutting into the brick wall and using a crane. Primex will assess the MCS lunchroom for potential use as a practice basketball court. Parking lot lights were fixed with sensors installed. Building and Grounds Committee Meeting Minutes Tuesday, July 21, 2026 – 12:00 p.m. SAU Conference Room Present: Matt Smith, Tucker Burton, Dave Butler, Eric Bernow, Pat Hart, Michael Whaland and Amanda Bergquist The meeting began at 12:05. MCS stair revision with wheelchair walkway are on hold – Finding a company to excavate the site and coordinating with the cement company and a company to build the cover has been difficult. The team reviewed options to get the district through the 2026-2027 school year in a safe manner. Insulation company for work at MA has been scheduled and has had a slight delay. They are planning to be out tomorrow, Wednesday, July 22, 2026 and plan to complete C wing and the Cafeteria. May return at a later date (maybe over the Thanksgiving break) to do the front office area. Phase II project at MCS is on budget and on time. The generator will be on site tomorrow and is scheduled to be installed, all components are in place for the installation. Who will service the generator at MCS ? Kitchen coolers are planned to go in next week, along with the oven hood. Oven installation timing is not yet scheduled along with the Minisplit for MA Cafeteria. A reminder to upgrade the pipe size for the propane coming into MA boilers and re visiting the propane line to the oven/range. There is a T in place to move forward with this. Lights at MCS are about to have way in. Conversation about Rebates – received rebate for boilers, pending rebate for lighting, and looking into rebates for the air handlers if they qualify and rebates for the MCS boilers. Discussion on replacing air handler #5 above the cafeteria at MA which handles the Cafeteria, Music Room and the Gym. An internal fan broke a few years ago and the district has been limping along. Do we try to continue to limp along with a fan array until this project is moved forward and approved. Looking into the cost for both options. There are 3 air handles in the mezzanine. Should we fix the broken one or do we look into replacing / upgrading all? The other part to this is getting to these air handlers, they would have to cut a hole into the brick wall outside the cafeteria and use a crane and pulley system to get it into place due to the location. B & G topics not part of Phase II The generator at MA has been scheduled by the town to be looked at and serviced on August 1st. The electrician will also come out and reset the values of the breaker. Parking lot lights have been fixed and the underground boxes have been located and new wire has been run to the lights, lights have sensors, no need for a timer. Talked about looking into the lunchroom at MCS being able to be a practice basketball space, a half court. The district will have Primex come out and assess the space. Conversation about the outdoor space by the MA cafeteria courtyard, being updated by the Construction Club and Stephen’s landscaping. Will send another email to Stephen’s.
