The Selectboard met with Selectmen Parisi and McClure present; Chairman Cleary absent. June 29, 2026 minutes were accepted. Kyle Murray’s gazebo facilities use agreement was approved with stipulations. Selectmen approved a $2,370.00 quote for a 4-Bay NAS 8 TB storage backup system, split between Police, Executive, and Town Clerk to address cyber-attack risks. Chief Horne and Sergeant Bell discussed police matters, including non-criminal truck turn-around issues at Alberto’s lot. Recent beach vandalism will prompt increased police patrols. Rain diverters for the Fire Station and Town Hall, plus a Town Hall ice diverter, were tabled. A/P & Payroll manifests were signed. The meeting adjourned at 6:53 pm. Bennington Board of Selectmen Monday — August 10, 2026 Selectmen’s Minutes — 6:00 pm Selectboard: Tony Parisi, Travis McClure Absent: Chairman Cleary Selectman Parisi Called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. Seconded by Selectman McClure. Appointments: 6:00 Police Chief, Tom Horne — Chief Horne was present to discuss trucks using Alberto’s parking lot as a turn-around, once they discover they can’t fit under the trestle they use Alberto’s parking lot, the owner of Alberto’s has tried to deter this. Horne explained this is not a criminal offense, the police cannot take action. Suggestions have been made to the owner of Alberto’s as to how to deter the trucks from using the business driveway as a turn-around even more. Chief Horne explained this is a civil matter. Selectmen understand. Sergeant David Bell was present for introductions. Selectmen welcomed him and a brief discussion followed regarding future programs and getting the Bennington Police Department set up in a more masterful capacity. Selectmen thanked Bell for stopping in. Police will be notified - additional police patrol will take place. Computers — Discussion of a recent cyber-attack in a nearby town followed. A quote was presented to the Board to install a 4-Bay NAS 8 TB storage backup for the town. This would provide the police with 2 drivers and the office with 2. It will also provide cloud storage for the town for up to 8 TB of back up. Chief Horne was present and expressed his thoughts on the necessity of being pro-active, rather than re-active with regards to this potential situation of a cyber-attack. The quote presented is for $2,370.00, this can be paid for in a shared capacity and split between Police, Executive and Town Clerk. Selectmen approved this quote as presented. Adjourn: With nothing further, Selectman Parisi motioned to adjourn the meeting at 6:53 pm. Seconded by Selectman McClure.
