Bethlehem Cares met July 24, 2026, with Chris Jensen, Carol Haywood, Annalisa Blake, April Hibberd, Kay Kerr, and Tina Lister. Minutes from June 3, 2026, were approved. The board addressed application 2026-6 (AM), concerning assistance for a wheelchair lift costing $2,500-$3,000 to aid mobility for shopping and family visits. Members discussed concerns about providing partial funding potentially affecting the applicant's eligibility for other aid. Annalisa Blake will research refurbished equipment options, contact the applicant, and verify if the applicant has a waiver or requires a denial letter for other assistance. The board will reconvene once this information is compiled. Tina Lister motioned to enter and exit non-public session, both seconded by Annalisa Blake. The meeting adjourned at 10:30 AM. TL made a motion to go into non-public session. AH seconded. 2026-6 (AM) – Applicant is looking for assistance for getting a wheelchair lift for a car which costs between $2500-$3000. Her son helps transport her and this would give her mobility to shop, visit family and friends, etc. AH suggested to check places that offer refurbished equipment. It was also suggested that we could give a partial amount to help out but questions were raised about whether this would hurt her options for getting help elsewhere. AH is going to do some research into refurbished equipment available and contact the applicant. We will meet again after information has been compiled. AH will also find out if the applicant has a waiver and is mainly looking for a letter of denial to help with assistance elsewhere. TL made a motion to move out of non-public session. AH seconded. Meeting adjourned 10:30 AM.
