Recreation Commission Meeting (minutes)
The Recreation Commission approved $30 in financial aid for soccer registration. Carter motioned for and Riendeau seconded a $2,000 revolving fund expense for fall sports supplies, including shirts and whistles; the motion passed. Financials for June through August were tabled until the September 8, 2026 meeting. Commission members voted to approve minutes from June 9, 2026, with corrections. A beach raft sold for $475. Upcoming events include Movie in the Park on August 26 with a rain date of August 27, and a collaborative Fall Hike set for September 26 at 9:00 am. Coordinator Pelissier will obtain quotes from BC Screenprinting and Tilton Sign Works, follow up on a June-approved MOU with the town administrator, and create registration forms and signage for the hike. TOWN OF SANBORNTON MEETING MINUTES RECREATION COMMISSION 18 August 2026, 7:00 pm at: Old Town Hall 19 Meetinghouse Hill Road, Sanbornton, New Hampshire 03269 www.sanborntonnh.org The Recreation Commission convened in regular session. Roll Call: Jax Riendeau (Commission Chair), Colleen Longo, Kerri Federico, Selectman Ralph Carter (Selectman Representative); Amanda Pelissier (Recreation Coordinator), Mindy DeFosse (Recreation Ast. Coordinator). Meeting Opened at 7:08pm Motion to enter non-public made by Carter, seconded by Riendeau. RSA 91-A:3 II (c) Matters which, if discussed in public, would likely affect adversely the reputation of any person, other than a member of this board, unless such person requests an open meeting. This exemption shall extend to any application or tax abatement or waiver of a fee, fine, or other levy, if based on inability to pay or poverty of the applicant. Entered non-public at 7:00pm Public session reconvened at 7:16pm. Motion passed unanimously to approve financial aid for soccer registration for $30. Public Comment: N/A Riendeau made a motion to accept the minutes as with corrections from June 9,2026. Federico seconded the motion. All in favor. Motion Passes. Financials were tabled until FY26 is closed out. June, July & August will be approved 9/8/2026 meeting. Coordinator Update Town Park Winnisquam Youth Softball League is leveling their diamond and will be putting in new material next week. Gilford Well tied off the sprinkler head on the pitchers mound and the head is now an extra replacement in the shed if needed. Fall baseball will be playing this fall and will work around soccer schedules. Grass on the infield dirt is becoming a problem. More frequent mowing needs to be done and a leaf blower needs to be used to blow the clippings off the dirt. Before/After School & Summer Day Camp Staff survey was sent out to gain feedback about summer camp as well as parent survey to gain feedback about their campers experience. www.sanborntonnh.org Old Home Day Update Blow up choices were a huge success and Pelissier would like to keep the same ones for next year as well. Lava flow bouncer and toddler one will continue. Pelissier will create a minimum height sign for the Lava Game and a maximum height for toddler one for next year. Also a sign that states parents need to monitor their children. Movie in the Park: Next Wednesday 8/26 with a rain date of 8/27 is the event! Movie license cost $400. Pelissier will sell popcorn and have raffles. For raffles we have; 3 baskets of various items, $25 Tbones giftcard, two $20 funspot giftcards, 4 trail passes to Squam Lake Science Center, $50 Common Man giftcard. We will also have a food truck there as well. Fall Sports 84 players are registered as of this morning for soccer. Preschool has one team and every other level has two teams. Field Hockey has 8, Volleyball has 6. Pelissier will do another push for volleyball and field hockey. Fall Hike with Conservation Commission Pelissier met Paul Stevens during Old Home Day who would like to collaborate with the Rec and do a fall hike on one of the trails. Saturday 9/26 at 9am is the time chosen. Rec Commission is on board and Pelissier will create a registration form for the hike and work on promoting. Trail is 1.4 mile loop. Revolving Fund Expenses A motion for $2000 for fall sports, shirts, replacement balls, whistles and anything else needed was made by Carter and seconded by Riendeau. All in favor. Motion passes. Other Business Riendeau mentioned using BC Screenprinting for sports shirts and Tilton Sign Works for banners. Pelissier will contact them and get quotes. Beach raft was sold for $475.00. Carter asked where the MOU stands. Rec Commission approved it back in June and Pelissier will talk to the town administrator to see what the next step is. Carter mentioned about grants that are available to widen roads to accommodate pedestrians on certain roads. Riendeau suggested that is more of a DOT thing and that Recreation’s main moment is the Town Park before we get into anything else. Motion to adjourn made be Federico at 8:18pm, seconded by Riendeau.
