Bethlehem Cares approved the April 9, 2026 minutes. The committee entered non-public session to discuss Case 2026-5. An applicant requested assistance for two months’ rent and utilities due to surgery complications preventing work. While suspecting the applicant qualifies for Welfare, the committee decided to wait for that outcome before deciding on rent assistance. Annalisa Blake made a motion to establish a $1,500 cap to help with other pressing bills; Tina Lister seconded. The motion passed. Chris Jensen will email the committee with the specific bill totals and proceed with securing the assistance. The applicant agreed to text the details of the specific bills she needs help with. The committee then adjourned the non-public session before ending the meeting. Source: https://bethlehemnh.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/Bethlehem-Cares-06-03-2026.pdf

Minutes of April 9, 2026 were approved.
TL motioned to go into non-public session. CH seconded.
2026-5 (KH) Applicant has not been able to work due to complications with surgery
in May and is looking for assistance for two months’ rent and utilities due to not
working and not getting paid. She has also applied to Welfare for assistance but
has not heard back. AH suspects that she will qualify through Welfare due to the
fact that she doesn’t have any income presently. She is anticipating returning to
work by June 21. She lives within her means. Discussion ensued that if there is
something that would keep her from going back to Welfare for assistance, then BC
could offer assistance. CH commented that we could let her know that we are
available if she runs into problems with other bills. KK suggested that we should
offer her something now to help out with bills than rent/utilities, but being that
the Welfare piece is still undecided, it was felt that we should wait until we have
that information to make a decision. We decided to call the applicant to explain the
Welfare process. She provided us with more details concerning her health and
living situation and her future employment. She could use assistance with a variety
of bills but is also looking to get help from her family. CH explained that we might
be able to help with those bills as well but we need know what she actually needs in
assistance. She will text the bills that are hanging over her head right now so we
can see was BC can do. AH made a motion that we decide on having a cap of $1500
to help pay her bills. TL seconded. Motion passed. CJ will connect through email to
inform everyone what her bills amount to and will proceed in getting her the
assistance she needs.
TL made a motion to go out of non-public session. AH seconded.
Meeting adjourned 1:45 PM.
