The Langdon Heritage Commission (LHC) reviewed finances showing a Sept 1 balance of $8,286.90 and $359.02 spent on 2026 calendars, which are now on sale for $10.00. The LCHIP Annual Inspection must be submitted before year-end to avoid grant repayment. A motion by Cliff Oster, seconded by Mike Sweeney, passed unanimously to hire Sam Moore for $1,500.00 to conduct a collection survey in November 2025. Andrea Cheeney will serve as the new Chairwoman, replacing Dennis McClary, who becomes a Commissioner. Larry Harper resigned; a thank you note will be sent. Dennis will contact Dan Waterman about water testing, and Andrea will ask the Langdon Sewing Group to donate restroom curtains. Roof fundraising and recruiting new members are slated for discussion at the next meeting on January 8, 2026. Source: https://www.langdonnh.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Minutes/_10092025-1

LHC Meeting Minutes for October 9, 2025

Present: Andrea Cheeney, Cliff Oster, Mike Sweeney, Dennis McClary

Treasurer Report: Bank Statement for Sept 1 from Town Treasurer Linda
Campbell does not include donations in memory of Dave Durling. Balance
shows $8,286.90 on Sept 1. What expenditures were there since March 31,
2025? $359.02 - reimbursement to Laura Rheume for the purchase of the
Langdon 2026 calendars.

Minutes of July 9:

Corresponding Secretary Report: Status of new LHC web site (complete)
and email address (waiting for Linda Christie to create, Andrea will follow up
with her)

Old Business:
Congratulations to Lorraine, Katie Gallagher and Laura for another wonderful
display at the Fall Festival! Holmes Farm History. Additionally, we thank
Laura, Lorraine, Andrea, Katie and Larry for creating the LHC calendars
fundraiser! Calendars will be available at the Town office, Woodell and
Daughters Forest Products, and with Laura. They are $10.00 each.

We received a donation in memory of David Durling from many donors for
which we are grateful. The total donations are at $515.00 as of 9/23/25.

LCHIP Annual Inspection is due before year end. It is submitted on their
portal. Non-compliance is grounds for repayment of grants. (Andrea, Dennis
and Mike will set a date soon to get this done)

The Prentiss Bridge area was mowed recently. We thank the Selectboard and
our Road Agent.

We should apply for the 2026 Moose Plate grant to fund archival needs. An
Intent to Apply is required. We must be aware of the deadlines.

Have we found an archivist to do a collection assessment so we can make an
archival plan? We have found a KSC Masters Degree in Archive studies to
create a collections assessment report. The report will help us to move
forward with the creation of an archive room. Motion to hire Sam Moore by
Cliff, seconded by Mike passed unanimously, $1500.00 was secured to hire
Sam to conduct a two day survey of the collection and to create a report in
November of 2025.
In the meantime, Andrea has installed thermometers in the archive room to
monitor temperature and relative humidity. This will be done on a weekly
basis.

Fundraising for the MH roof is important. Let's continue with additional actions.
We suggested in the past that each Commissioner develop two suggested
fundraisers. To be discussed further at the Jan 2026 meeting.

The LHC needs a few good folks to fill our ranks and assure our
organization’s continuation. How do we address the need? To be discussed
further at the Jan 2026 meeting.

New Business:
What do we think about a periodic inspection of the Covered Bridges with a
written, paid-for report from a trusted local builder? To continue as we do
now. LHC checking on bridges.

Should we ask Dan Waterman to inspect our water softener and test our water
again? Dennis will contact Dan Waterman

This is the last LHC meeting of 2025 and Dennis' last as Chair of the LHC. He
will be promoted to a position as one of the several Commissioners. It was
decided that chocolate chip squares were needed to celebrate Dennis, this

will happen at our January meeting. In the meantime Thank you Dennis for
your tireless work to preserve the history of Langdon and its buildings.

Andrea Cheeney will be stepping into the role of Chairwoman of the Heritage
Commission.

Regrettably, Larry Harper has found it necessary to resign from the LHC. His
business is demanding more time than he can spare. We thank him for his
positive energy and good ideas. We will send Larry a thank you note.

Curtains and sink skirt for meeting house restroom. Andrea will reach out to
the members of the Langdon Sewing Group to ask them if they would
consider donating new curtains and a sink skirt at their next meetup.
