The Selectmen approved minutes and signed vouchers. Regarding Japanese Knotweed, Gary Newfield informed the board that mowing while blooming spreads nodules; the invasive species mainly spreads by roots. The Conservation Commission plans to address the issue in 2026 and will notify affected property owners. Paul Kenison reported no sightings at the Valley Road Landfill but noted a patch on Randolph Hill Road near the Beringer property. Selectman Paul A. Jadis signed a Renewable Energy Agreement from Knollwood Energy to acquire Renewable Energy Credits from unused solar energy production. The board acknowledged a letter from Redza Dempster of the USDA selecting the Snyder Brook Scenic Area for inclusion in the Old-Growth Forest Network. The meeting adjourned at 6:33 pm. The meeting was called to order at 6:02 pm
Minutes were approved and vouchers signed.
Gary Newfield asked that Paul Kenison and Brian Lamarre be present to discuss the Japanese
Knotweed issues along Durand Road. He explained that mowing the Japanese Knotweed when
blooming can create the spreading of the nodules that attach themselves to the mowing blades. It
mainly spreads by the roots and the Conservation Commission plans on addressing this invasive
species in 2026. Property owners with Japanese Knotweed encroaching on their property will be
notified.
It was asked if there were any sitings at the Landfill on Valley Road. Paul Kenison responded
saying “No”. Paul Kenison did note seeing a patch on Randolph Hill Road by the Beringer’s
property.
Knollwood Energy sent a Renewable Energy Agreement to the town to acquire REC (Renewable
Energy Credits) from the production of unused Solar Energy produced. Selectman Paul A. Jadis
signed the agreements.
Redza Dempster sent a letter to the board from the USDA (United States Department of Agricul-
ture) selecting Snyder Brook Scenic Area for inclusion in the Old-Growth Forest Network
(OGN). The White Mountain National Forest is honored to accept this designation.
