Minutes 12-5-22

Selectmen approved paying Firefighter Dan Kenerson three days of wages since workers' compensation excludes the initial period. Regarding highway business, the board authorized Road Agent Doug Glover to negotiate purchasing a used 2011 backhoe with 1500 hours to replace the 2000 model. Glover noted Blake Road damage from a vehicle off-road. Building permits were issued with conditions for Olerio and Richards for a new home on Route 18, and for Houx for a new home on Hadley Road. Town Engineer Red McCarthy submitted a revised easement map for the Hughes property to the Society for the Protection of NH Forests and a Crane Hill project update. Margo Connors will follow up with Casella to arrange a meeting with Tri Towns representatives regarding trash disposal. The next meeting is December 12, 2022. SELECTMEN’S MEETING– December 5, 2022

Correspondence was read and acted upon.

The board agreed to pay three days of wages to Firefighter Dan Kenerson for his time out after injury as
WC does not pay the first three days.

ROAD AGENT DOUG GLOVER met with the board to discuss highway department business. Doug
reported on damage to Blake Road from a truck and trailer that went off the road. Doug has located a
used 2011 backhoe to replace the 2000 current model. It has no commercial use and 1500 hours on it.
The board approved Doug to negotiate the purchase. The internet at the highway department has been
going out which sets the alarm off. Alarm company is going to see what they can do and need to get
charter communications to look at why this is happening.

Town Engineer Red McCarthy has submitted a revised easement map to the Society for the Protection of
NH Forests for the Hughes property at Indian Brook. Red also submitted an update report on the Crane
Hill project.

Margo reported on the Master Plan proposal for 2024. She asked if the SH Conservation Commission
would complete portions of the plan that would save on the overall costs. Chris will see if Larry Sawyer
from the SHCC will attend the next Planning Board Meeting as they will be zooming with Tara Bamford
about the Master Plan.

MARGO CONNORS spoke with the board about her conversation with Franconia Selectman Eric Meth.
He has communicated with Mt. Carberry about whether they would take trash from new communities.
They do not have to take additional towns. The Tri Towns can get out of Pemi Baker at any time and are
not bound. Margo is following up with Casella about having them come out and meet with the Tri Town
reps.

MR. BIELEFIELD made a motion to approve the minutes and nonpublic minutes of November 28, 2022,
seconded by MR. ELLMS. The motion passed unanimously.

With no more business before the Board MR. ELLMS made a motion to adjourn, seconded by MS.
CONNORS, the meeting was adjourned at 6:30 PM. The next regular scheduled meeting is Monday
December 12, 2022, at the Carolina Crapo Building at 5:00 pm.
