June 2026 Minutes
Chairman Alyssa Dunn called the June 17 meeting to order with members Sirotnak, Reed, Richardson, and Selectmen’s Representative Lewis present. Board members voted unanimously to approve the May 20, 2026 minutes. Regarding the consultation for David Batchelder off Shem Valley Road, the Board addressed concerns about a right-of-way serving Batchelder’s property and the Ann Piascik subdivision. If more than two dwellings access this right-of-way, Town road standards must be met. The Board decided to take a proactive stand, directing that a letter be sent to Piascik regarding her intentions and the standards requirement. The Conservation Commission reported the last Town trash pickup was canceled due to rain and noted active turtle nesting, with protectors placed on eggs. ALEXANDRIA PLANNING BOARD 47 Washburn Road Phone 603-744-8986 Alexandria, NH 03222 Fax 603-744-9461 MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. CALL TO ORDER Chairman Alyssa Dunn called the meeting to order at 6:05 pm. Also present were members Doug Sirotnak, Brian Reed, Bryan Richardson and Selectmen’s Representative Brian Lewis. A quorum was present. Also present was David Batchelder. MINUTES May 20, 2026 Brian R. made a motion to accept the minutes as written; Bryan seconded. All were in favor; none opposed. NEW BUSINESS CONSULTATION FOR DAVID BATCHELDER OFF SHEM VALLEY ROAD David Batchelder is an abutter to the Ann Piascik subdivision that was approved at the November 19, 2025 Planning Board meeting. Ann’s subdivision is off Shem Valley Road, Tax Map #407, Lot #306. Ann’s subdivision had created 2 new lots. David Batchelder has a long right-of-way to his property, which is not deeded, but he has been using for about 57 years. This right-of-way is the only access to David’s property. David’s concern is that the 2 new lots may choose to access their property via the right-of-way he uses and by doing so, it will have 3 dwellings accessing off it. He is concerned that this will trigger the need to bring the right-of-way up to Town road standards, which will hinder his access to his property during the improvement period. He also believes that due to the topography, it will not be possible to bring this right-of-way up to Town road standards. David indicated he has tried to speak with Ann, but it has not been productive. The Board discussed that the only issue that is a Planning Board matter is if there comes a time when 3 dwellings are accessed from the right-of-way. It was suggested that the Planning Board take a proactive stand and send a letter to Ann Piascik asking her intentions and explaining that the right-of-way will need to be brought up to Town road standards if more than 2 dwellings access it. COMMITTEE REPORTS CONSERVATION COMMISSION Doug reported that Conservation Commission meeting this week will be held on Thursday instead of Wednesday. Doug mentioned the last scheduled trash pick up in Town was canceled due to rain. The Conservation Commission field camera located at the turtle preserve discovered that someone was baiting coyotes with a cat food can of bait. It has been noted that the turtles are nesting now. Turtle eggs have been laid and protectors were put around them for protection from predators. Town people have been out looking for turtles nesting. Doug explained people are to look for big holes with eggs. Anyone who discovers a nest should contact the Conservation Commission. ADJOURNMENT Brian R. made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:03 pm; Alyssa seconded. The next Planning Board meeting will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 6:00 pm.
