Planning board meeting.
The Vertex site plan application was approved.
I did attend the ZBA meeting out of curiosity because Mr. Wood is putting in a deck and wanted to hear how that was going and that was approved and set up.
We did a lot of setting up for the voting.
And then voting day.
We were there.
All of us.

And that went very well.
I thought.
We actually had someone from the Secretary of State there doing an audit on the machine itself.
and we passed.
Everything is wonderful.
Everything was fine.
We also had a representative from the Attorney General's office, I believe.
He was an investigator from the Attorney General's office.

And he was also looking at all of the numbers on the machine and making sure that everything was good, especially, I guess, since it's the second time we're using the machine and it's the first time for a state election or national election.
So everything went very well.

Uh, first thing is, um, I've been, if anybody comes and goes overseas or I'm making phone calls to people asking for their assistance.
I've been in the office helping a lot this week.
I'm out of work for a while for medical reasons.

I have received the two prices for, um, the two main vendors for, um, salt for this winter and the Eastern minerals who we did use last year in Morton salt.
Um, Morton salt is almost exactly the $2 and 5 cents a ton, uh, cheaper than Eastern minerals.
Um, so I would support if you guys do as well, um, going with, uh, Morton salt.
And if so, um, uh, uh, uh, we actually got plenty of times valid to June 30th of 27.
So good.
We don't have to rush into that, but, um, two bucks is two bucks.

a lot better.
with the application of the dust control, the dirt roads do last a lot longer.
Um, we have driven around myself, uh, and the road agent to, uh, assess the, uh, the worst
ones that have got washboards and potholes.
We'll be addressing them more than likely unless mother nature fools us.
Um, they'll probably all have to be addressed before snow flies, but we do kind of have a fixed
schedule and estimated, um, on a perfect weather and average summer, um, how many times each
road gets graded.
Um, some of those have already met that threshold, so they may not necessarily be touched unless
they're horrible, but, um, yeah, I'm going to stick with that now.

They also have a higher repair record.
They don't last as long.
I want, from a town standpoint, I want a once and done for the next 20 years.
The Cummins history, when you do the homework and the research.

So having work for organizations that use these, the Cummins is definitely, whether it's worth the money.
It's a Cadillac.
But it's, it's more like a workhorse.

And this whole project's being positioned with all the grants as a secondary EMS center for the town, because of the previous history, that's since 2022.

That is a very, very big consideration by all of the different grant companies I've come to.

In addition to that, Eversource, where we've applied for an $8,500 grant from Eversource, that cannot be used for the generator project itself.

It would be for preparedness, capabilities for our EMS systems.

And then once we've got everything in, there will be a small HVAC LP gas job to hook from the exterior of the building
to the existing heaters that are in the building.
That's all part of that hole.

So if you have extra money in, you can budget it somehow.

If they own the tank, you can only get the gas from them.

You can always change the tank out if it's above ground.

But I'm just saying if the town, if there's like enough grant money, having your own tank gives the town the bargaining position to determine.

Basically, what I've been doing is just cleaning up the loose ends that have been sitting there
and waiting to try to get people their permits.
I have issued no permits as of yet, but in cleaning up the, I say loose ends, you know,
the little things that are needed so we can issue a permit and be clear with it.
I have had inquiries about a couple more permits.
One, I just got in today from a neighbor of mine who happened to be putting up a carport.
Since he's living next to the zoning office.
Well, yeah, that's not a good thing for him.
But at any rate, he did do exactly what he said he was going to do and apply for a permit, and everything is fine.
I did the site visit to tell him he needed a permit, you know, so it's killed two birds of one stone.
Things are progressing, I think, fairly well.
I mean, it's just going to take me some time to get really comfortable by meeting with people,
as I just did with the woman who was just there, just to go over things to make sure that everyone understands that.
That might take me a little bit, and I'm going to be more than cautious because I want to make sure that what it is I'm doing
is exactly what needs to be done.

but they could access documents on Dropbox, and we had control over which folders are public and not public, etc.
So the Dropbox is really a computer service that wasn't covered under computer services,
so it's approximately $130 a year, and then we left some money for other things and increases.

Yeah, SharePoint or OneDrive, which is included with our email, will do all of the same functions.
The challenge has been that a lot of those have changed.
It seems that every time we start using the talent system, it changes,
and for some of these things, we're legally obligated to maintain some of these documents.
And we thought, since this system's been working well for the planning board,
and we have these Dropbox files all in place, we wanted to keep Dropbox.
We understand that there's like the Google Drive, but like the Google Drive depends on the town's contract.
And the transition last time of some of the documents didn't go over totally,
and we had the Dropbox as a backup, and that was kind of the plan B that we actually ended up relying on.
So that's why we want to put that, we want to continue with it.
We don't intend to change.
I mean, obviously, we're too deep in with Microsoft at this point.
Nothing is going to change there, and if it's in the town stuff,
it is being backed up in a couple of different places now.

and this way we can just kind of do Dropbox and not bug you, not bug the town administrator.
