Adeline C Marston Grade 5 Play 2026
SPEAKER_1 introduced the student-created play "The Evil Pickle," noting students managed lighting and music. The plot involved students trapped by SPEAKER_6 (the Evil Pickle) in a dimension requiring survival of six levels, each corresponding to a fifth-grade class. Students passed levels including a "floor is lava" room, a comedy club, a shark encounter (featuring SPEAKER_8 as Doggy Shark), a "Is it Cake?" game show with participant Santino, and an emo/goth room defeated by playing "YMCA." The final circus scene involved a "Mission Impossible" task. SPEAKER_1 and SPEAKER_11 acknowledged the students' unique writing and performance efforts, thanking staff and parents. All right, welcome everybody. Just coming out to welcome you. You're in for quite a treat tonight. I don't know how much your respective children have told you about tonight's play, but we've been writing it for months. They've been writing it for months. They came up with, just like I told you, anyone that came to the winter show, the holiday show, they did every part of this. We talked about the idea. We brainstormed everything. They even had a little thing where each class could come up with their own ideas. You'll see as we go into it. They're doing everything. for this play, you're going to see kids walking up to go to the lighting booth. The lighting booth people had to figure that out with one rehearsal. They're the ones queuing all the music. Anyway, anything. All the dances they wanted to do, they all signed up for it. So everything you see is student-driven. So you're in for a really big treat. So I'm not going to talk too much. Can we have a big round of applause for the fifth grade? And their play, The Evil Pickle. Turn up the back. ground a little bit, please. Hold on. Can we have the house lights on? Everybody, a big round of applause. How did you enjoy the show? Everybody, take a bow. Take a bow. We thank you all for coming out tonight. Wait, wait. Mr. Carlson, that couldn't be the end of the show. We remember we said short and sweet. You know, just one song. We did the song, the chorus, and did a little dance. Yeah, well, we spent a long time. We created our own play. All of us fifth graders. Is that? Why you're dressed like a pickle? Well, yeah. Oh. Would you like to see their show? All right. Okay, guys, you better get home. Yeah, I mean the teachers are gone now. Homer comes to us forever today. I hope they didn't lock us into school. Hey, guys. I've never seen that door before. You mean the door that says do not open? Well, that looks suspicious. Yeah, don't open it for sure. Yes, but maybe we should open it. Why do we do that? You'll make the place so much more interesting. Good idea. I think I'll open it. Are you crazy? Don't open that. This just in. Students are thinking about opening the forbidden door. That's your top story? Because opening a door. Pretty boring news, if you ask me. But it's not just any door. It's a forbidden one. Oh, what's going to happen? Is an evil pickle going to come in and trap them in an alternate I mentioned? Yeah, and then they have to be six different levels to survive. Um, well, that was random. Let's go right through the students and see what's happening. Where were we? Oh yeah, I was opening the door. You fell for my trap. Now I'm going to trap you in ultimate dimension. And the only way out is survive six levels of chaos. Why six? Random. Because there are six fifth grade classes and each one got through right their own act. Okay, so what in our class right? You must survive. The floor is lava. Nicholas, the floor is lava. Oh, that's not good. This lava is fake. Maybe the door was a bad idea. You think we just lost two classmates? The only way out is to survive all the six levels and answer a trivia question to complete the level. But why? I don't know. I was bored. Now, you better get moving. You only got five minutes in each level. Chop, chop. Drive the floor's lava room? Will they be able to answer a trivia question? If they do. Will they ever make sour patch flavored Cheetos? Um, what? Find out tonight's top story. Okay, we can do this. We just have to jump to the different platforms to get across. Sure, easy peasy. I don't know, this is pretty hard. Forget it. We'll never make it across. That attitude, you won't. Isn't it Elton John? No, melting John, you know. Because with the law and all. Well, that doesn't help us. You don't need help. You're still standing, aren't you? Well, yes, but... But nothing! You just need confidence. I know. How about a song? I'm still standing. Answer a trivia question. You have to sing it while they are thinking. So are you mixed blue and yellow. What color do you get? Green. No, wait. But that's the right answer. Well, yes, but they have to sing the song first. Now he can answer. To like green? Yep, you pass. So we can go? Have fun surviving the other levels. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Once again, as you watch a switch acts, you're going to see all the kids switch what they're doing. Because every kid wanted a part to help out, be an actor, be somebody in license. Each class got to work on their own act for this one. Hey, look, the door to get out is right there. Well, that's easy. All right, let's get this party started. Yeah, I guess we outsmarted that evil pickle. Wait, it can't be that easy. That's silly. I'm going. I don't know. What do you call, Pony with a sore throat? Seagull's flower of the bay. Over the bay. Comedy show! And if the jokes don't catch you, then Joel the Crazy Chicken will. Will die from bad dad jokes and then be attacked by Joel the Crazy Chicken? Yep, that's right. Aren't you the smart one? Top story tonight. Now students have to survive the world's worst comedy club. And a crazy chicken. But guys, those jokes weren't that bad. I laughed. No, they were awful. Yep, no way they're surviving this room. But guys, the big one was pretty funny. I can't even say funny. Get it? Next thing you girls will be telling bad jokes. What did the ocean say to the beach? Nothing. You just waved. Ugh. Okay, we have to find a way around this room. I don't know. Seems easy to me. Though those jokes were funny. I'm going for it. Yeah, calling me funny with a sore throat. A little hoarse? Hilarious. Did you hear about the circus fire? No. Tell me about it. It was intense. What did one wall say to the other wall? One wall say to the other wall. I'll meet you at the corner. Well, this is going rather poorly. Wait, I have an idea. Excuse me, but before you tell another one of your hilarious jokes that is sure to mean the end for us, could we just see your permits? Permits? Permits? Yes. Yes, you know, it's a federal offense to tell bad dad jokes without state-issued permits. You guys surely have yours. Um, of course we do. Let me just check in my... ...of-you, but you still have to answer a question to exit to the next room. You're supposed to sing that after I asked the question. And the question is, why did the math book look so sad? Because it had too many problems. No, too... On to the next room. I wonder what this room could be like... It could it be worse than the bad dad jokes in the last one. Oh, look, it's water. I love swimming. Um, I would think twice before jumping in. Oh, come on. I'm going in. Look, the water's great. Um, Will, you're kind of missing your head. What, what are you talking about? Um, I don't even know how you're talking because your whole head is missing. Wait, I think I see something in the water. Grandpa, don't be so mean. Yes, they seem like nice boys. Can I eat them? Certainly not. We're sophisticated sure. We don't eat people. We're vegetarians. In my day we ate people. Yeah, people are delicious. Now, Grandma, we're all about that. Well, what do you eat Will's head? Okay, confess. Who did it? Was it you, Grandpa, Shark? No, it couldn't be me. I don't have my foster. Say, you baby Shark? My adult teeth yet. Shirk, was it you? Wolf. Come on, Doggy Sharks, you know better than that. Now apologize to the nice boy. Woof, woof, woof. Much better. Oh, before you guys go, we were told you have to answer this trivia question. Taggy Shark will ask the question. Woof, woof, woof, woof, woof, woof. Is the answer, woof? Woof. Great job, you boys, have a nice day. A room of very friendly sharks. Did one of the students lose their head and get it reattached? And then did the sharks nicely let them pass the next room? This makes no sense. What is right? with Mr. Carlson. Yeah, he's totally lost it. Um, guys, remember, we wrote the play? Oh, yeah. Well, that was a big mistake. Yeah, why would he let us write the play? I guess he has totally lost his mind. You're going to be watching a game show in this next one. You can play along at home and guess what you would have guessed. Well, this one's fancy. Yeah, it looks at Hollywood and stuff. Like we're on a game show. Yeah, an evil game show. show. We better watch out. Anything could happen. Is it Santino Arcade? Centino Arcade. We've got to find out. We just can't wait. Santina our cake. It's time for the show, Santino. It's time for the show, Santino. To an exciting night of the Smash It Show, is it cake? Here's you host Mikey Day. You guys can both host the show. You have an amazing show for you plan tonight. Yes, there'll be two cakes and one decoy. Contestants must find the cake. Before the time runs. out. Oh yes, and the Duke would a night is a real live, Marston student! Yes! None other than Santino who we tricked into being on this show. I sure hope they get it right, slowly with a test, to eat cake. Wait, what? One of these is cake. This is so hard. I'm not cake. They all look so real. Any of them could be cake or Santino. I'm not cake! Well, I don't know about you guys, but I think the middle one is cake. Moving, talking, I'm not cake. I'm not cake. Yeah, absolutely eat Santino. Yeah, please don't do that. Yeah, me too. I think it's the middle one. This game is a cake. Yes, will students be able to tell the real Santino from cake? Well, they sure got themselves in a pickle in this one, folks. They have no pun intended. He, he, he, he. I get it because this whole thing started from an evil pickle. Oh, yeah, a good one. Well, this sure isn't going to be a piece of cake. Ha ha, ha, another good one. You're the part. We take you back now, but it's still a few seconds left. Tom and Santino's Faye. I can you answer, so we eat ALL the cake. I think it's the middle one for sure. For the last time, I'm not cake! Whoa, that's one anchor cake. Yep, that's definitely not Santino. All right, Maggie Day, I think we're locked in. Yep, middle one for sure. This is ridiculous. Well, let's see if it's Santino delicious cake. The question is, how many eyes are in the world? word fish? Um, one. Get it? Oh, one eye. Wait, but there's two eyes in the word pirate fish. It was just a joke. Okay, we got your question right. Can we move on to next level? You guys are no fun! Fun! Move on! Act four, a big round of applause! She's dancing in rainbows, pink, puppy unicorns dancing in rainbows, She's such a hot topic. She doesn't even She doesn't even wear rainbow socks. Yeah, epic author's rainbow socks. about socks. So dark and bland in here. Yeah, talk about bleak. We need some festive tunes. Let's turn on some lights in here. Open some windows and let some sunlight in. There will be no light or festive songs in this room. We do not sing happy things. And nothing pink. We hate pink. And nothing to do with bananas. So basically you guys just mope around in the dark all day? Yeah, it's so dark and boring here. Is the difficult part about this level not going to sleep? Yeah, it's a real downer. I don't appreciate your tone. Yes, we are perfectly happy with her gloom. We definitely don't wish everything was pink. And bananas everywhere! I mean we don't want that. That is random. That's enough talking. I will now use my dark magic take your voices away. boys is away. How do we get them back? Oh, you can't. What? There has to be a way. Every movie has a loophole in the bad guy's evil plan where they think no person could ever accomplish. Yeah, but then the hero comes and saves the day. It's a movie law. Maybe if the bad guys were pink for no particular reason. Or dress like bananas. So random. Okay. If one of you can play the guitar solo for Master of Puppets, the spell will be broken. But they have to do it on ukulele. Oh, ukulele is such a pretty and happy sounding instrument. It reminds me of rainbows and unicorns and pink, for no particular reason. So very random. No, no more talking. We could play the solo from Master of Puppets on the ukulelele. The conventions of the media have beaten us in. again. You can talk all you want, but you're stuck here forever. The only way to open the door is their happiness in pink and rainbows and unicorns. And bananas. So random, but not a chance to open that door. But I think I know something that'll brighten this room up. Yeah, no one can be depressed dancing to YMCA. Maybe they'll even smile. And take off those black robes. Take off those black roads. No, not that. Anything but that. Dad's party! Too happy. I'll open the door for you. But you do have to solve the riddle first. Okay, shoot. What yellow fruit grows on trees and is long and yellow. Bananas. Yump, you can go. Top story tonight. Emo Goth Richards defeated by YMCA. Yes, why was there a banana? I don't know. Maybe because we're chosen. when we wrote the play. Oh, I guess that makes sense. That explains the evil pickle, too. It explains a lot of things. And there's still one more acts left. We'll all happen next. All right. Well, you know, we have gone through five acts. That's five acts so far. Can we have a big round of applause for him so far? But we do have six classes, so we will see in a moment what mischief the last class gets up to. Well, this room looks kind of fun. It's like some sort of circus. Yeah, like an evil circus. circus. I prefer carn evil. Yes, in the clarified, this is your last room. Yeah, that's what she just said. I know, but I was saying this is the last room ever. Yeah, she said, this is a last room. Why, when they walked in? Yes, but I was making a play on words, meaning this is where they would meet their doom. Ooh, good one. I know, right? Huh, would you just get me the magical music box? So impossible task. task you haven't served for us, Mr. Evil Clown. Oh, nothing. All you do is cross the room and answer the riddle. Wait, that's it. No tricks? Except when this magic music box plays, you'll be turned into mice and can't answer the question. No, wait, you can't be serious. We got to get that box. Except you can't. It's protecting by invisible lasers. Yeah, not even Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible can get it. The box. The box. Start the box. Wait. Is that really the sound of mice makes? Squeak, squeak. How good Sophie was it gymnastics? Yes, we need her now. She could totally dodge the lasers. I think I have squeak her number. She won't squeak. Understand us. She's only one call away. Start it again. I'll be there to say. Superman got me. If you need to give you up. Genastic training will finally pay off. Oh, wait, you don't understand me. What? It's fun. Well, you still have to answer my. riddle what's the airship of it on land and swallow African or European swallow? I don't know that. The kids feed the evil pickle that then turned into a banana and then a bunch of bananas and then an evil clown. Really, Mr. Carlson has to stop letting us make the play because this is really bananas. At least the kids are back at the school right where they started. We did it. We're back in school and we're only gone for two hours. But that means we're locked in school overnight. Oh, well, let's have a party in the USA girls. Round of applause. Come back to your spots, guys. All right, I just want to say thank you once again to everybody, to everybody to help put this on. First of all, they did such a good job. They really wrote every part of it. So give it up for our Marston fifth grade and the evil pickle. If you've been to our performances before, you know that every single one is unique. So hopefully you enjoyed that roller coaster ride that you went on this evening with our fifth graders. Can we hear it one more? time for all their hard work. Can we hear it from Mr. Carlson and the staff you don't see behind the curtains, please? You have an amazing group of children. Thank you for sharing them with us over the last few years. We sincerely appreciate it. They did a phenomenal job. Students take a bow, enjoy your applause, and have a wonderful evening.
