The Facilities Committee met on July 27, 2026, with Chair Beck-Brown, Members Simoneau and Dunn present. Facilities Director Caruso reported several completed projects: the PSS roof, PSS fire panel, and WHS Pod three tiles. The ESS fire panel awaits parts, and LMS leaks are being repaired. Committee members discussed playground safety reviews, with Superintendent Baeta to provide an update on the process and noted a need for "Use at Your Own Risk" signage during non-school hours. Regarding the non-functioning Huot Boiler, the committee reached a consensus to install two new boilers. The $110,000 cost will require a full School Board vote to seek funding from the Stabilization account, with further discussion at the Board meeting. Facilities Director Caruso is seeking financial support from snack shack utilizers for a new industrial sink. Business Administrator Cilley will review district facilities insurance coverage. Facilities Director Caruso confirmed that the required maintenance is being completed. Members Dunn and Simoneau and Chair Beck-Brown expressed concerns about ensuring a timely and consistent process for reviewing playground safety. Facilities Director Caruso noted a lack of internal communication regarding the process. Superintendent Baeta will provide an update on the required process moving forward. Superintendent Baeta noted the need to install "Use at Your Own Risk" signage at district playgrounds for use during non-school hours. 2. Laconia High School Boiler(s):Superintendent Baetanoted the Huot Boiler not working and no vendor or parts are available for the current boiler. The Superintendent provided two options for dealing with this issue. Options include to install one new boiler or two new boilers or consider hot water pumps instead of new boilers. The range is from $79,000-$110,000. The consensus was to get the two new boilers completed as soon as possible as the winter is around the corner. The cost would be a request to the Budget/Personnel Subcommittee and full School Board vote to seek funding from Stabilization ($110,000). More discussion needed at the Board meeting. Member Simoneau inquired about the maintenance schedule for district equipment. Facilities Director Caruso confirmed that the required maintenance is being completed. 3. Capital Planning Process Facilities Director Carusoto seek information as requested by Chair Brown and member Dunn to have the utilizers of the snack shack provide some financial support for a new industrial sink. 4. Other Business Business Administrator Cilley willconduct a review of the district's facilities insurance coverage to determine what is and is not covered.
