Road Advisory Committee (minutes)

The Road Advisory Committee reviewed DPW equipment inventory with the CIP Committee. Both groups decided to meet at the DPW yard on Sept. 21 to inspect equipment before making purchase, lease, or replacement decisions. Regarding the Kelley Corner Bridge, members await engineer approval for weight limit postings and recommended resurfacing. Road inspections are ongoing, with the north end remaining. Carpenter and Swiggybrook Roads are currently being paved; Hilliard Road extended asphalt to the bridge to address icing. Traffic counters were repaired and will be installed once Jeremy consults the state on locations. The committee plans to locate and mark culverts in Spring 2027. discussion covered the Grange Green Area and West Road winter plowing protocol. The committee discussed DPW equipment deals and Block Grant usage, potentially moving funds for the Police and Grange parking lots and roads such as Lane, Hutchinson, Smith, and Sandborn.    Opening & General Discussion
The meeting opened informally with light conversation as members arrived. CIP Committee was there
already to begin meeting with questions to Joe about status of DPW Equipment. Joe handed the CIP 
committee a report of the inventory and condition of the equipment that the DPW has at this time. The 
committee had many questions about the ownership status such as leases active and how old 
equipment is. The CIP committee decided to meet Joe and other members of committees at the DPW
yard to look over equipment Monday Sept 21. More options of purchase ,replacement or lease were 
discussed. The CIP committee exited the meeting and RAC committee continued discussion of topics 
on agenda.
   Kelley corner Bridge

The committee talked about how the bridge will be posted for weight limits. Waiting for 
engineer to give Joe the OK to post and what weight is recommended until bridge is repaired. 
Joe suggested stripping off top layers and resurface asphalt. [Joe]


Reviewed road inspections and inventory of all the roads. North end of town is the last section 
to complete inspections. [Roger]

A couple of analog counters were found at the DPW and we got them working.

We will install them in town after Jeremy talks to state office about their counter locations.


Tom told us about software [QGIS] that will map out roads/culverts and any other info we would like to
input for future.
Also, discussed locating culverts and marking in the spring 2027 when vegetation is down and able to 
locate drainage areas. [Roger]

Running conduit to town sign/ extending lawn 15ft into parking lot/ Heritage committee wants input .

Moving money to road budget and money to pave Police parking lot and Grange parking lot.[Jeremy]
  2027 Roads to replace asphalt
We discussed what roads are due for 2027 but, possibly doing some this year because Joe was 
under budget with the paving done in 2026.. The possibilities are corner of Lane, Hutchinson, Smith 
Sandborn.
Also, Paving the Grange and Police and grange parking lots? [Jeremy/Joe]
