August 4, 2026 Advisory Board of Assessors meeting (minutes)
The Advisory Board of Assessors approved minutes from the June 10, 2026 meeting via a motion by Brighton, seconded by Roberto, with unanimous approval. The Board voted on the following abatement recommendations from the June 10, 2026 hearing, all moved by Roberto and seconded by Brighton, passing unanimously: - Abate $98,300 for Clarkson, Kevin & Ann (3 Saddle Run RD). - Abate $374,600 for Dent, Kelly (25 Reservoir RD). - Abate $200,400 for Barnhart -Trust (1 N Balch ST). - Deny abatement for Lewis Family Trust (19 Berrill Farms LN). - Deny abatement for New Hampshire SNF 1 LLC (49 Lyme RD). The meeting also addressed new business regarding whether to continue the ABOA. Brighton moved to adjourn at 11:45 p.m., seconded by Roberto, with unanimous approval. Advisory Board of Assessors – minutes 41 South Main Street – Board Room Tuesday August 4, 2026 – 11:30 a.m. Meeting called to order 11:32 a.m. I. Introduction of Board and Staff – John Brighton – Chairperson, Joe Roberto, Joanna Whitcomb – Selectboard representative, Bob McCarthy – Whitney Group consultants, Jerry Roberts. II. Assessment hearing process explained - Each applicant is given the opportunity to present new information not included in the application. The Board reviews all the information supplied by the applicant and that of the Assessor before making their decision. The Board’s recommendation is presented to the Selectboard for approval. If following the Advisory Board of Assessor recommendation, the applicant is not happy with the outcome they have the option of filing an appeal beyond the local level to the Board of Tax and Land Appeal or the Grafton County Superior Court. III.
