Heritage Commission (minutes)
The Heritage Commission approved July minutes. Financial reports showed Charrette funds of $\$2,641.50$ and non-lapsing funds of $\$1,829.74$, with Robyn setting up Zeffi accounts for non-profits and Cobbler Shop monies. A library history sign was ordered from NEOPCO for $\$175$. Gloria will contact Shane Eldridge regarding wooden cannon carriage treatments. The group thanked Bartlett Tree Company for fertilizing Canterbury Road trees. Old Home Day participation yielded $\$20$ in donations. For the Warren Cobbler Shop, Katherine will draft a donor letter and a meeting was set to discuss funding and future programs. Kathy will research Greenspace neighbor boundaries. Meeting guests expressed interest in becoming Commission members and alternates. Jay noted 1970s state stone wall mapping records at the archives could assist future projects. CHICHESTER HERITAGE COMMISSION Meeting Minutes for August 20, 2026 Meeting opened at 7:03 Present: Lucille Noel, Gloria Beachy, Katherine Shamel, Joyce Lemay, and Dawn Marshall. Guests: Kathy Valley. Jay Baas. Laurie Littlefield-Baas, Robyn Lebreton, and Niki Toy-Caron Treasurer's Report: Charrette $2641.50 Non lapsing $1829.74 Robyn set up a Zeffi account for non profits and an account for Cobbler Shop funds. Minutes: July minutes were approved. Historic Signs/Library Cannons update: Gloria will contact Shane Eldridge to find out if the wooden cannon carriages were sealed or stained. Areplacement for the library sign that tells about the history of the building has been ordered from the NEOPCO sign company for $175. Canterbury Road Trees: A card will be sent to thank Bartlett Tree company for fertilizing the trees at no cost. Old Home Day: We had a table at Old Home Day displaying items belonging to the Historical Society which came from the Warren Cobbler Shop along with posters and information sheets about the Cobbler Shop project. Received $20 in donations and spoke to other potential donors. Warren Cobbler Shop: The group discussed sources of funding for the project and a list of potential donors was written down. Katherine will do a draft letter for donors. A meeting was set up to work on this. There was discussion about programs which could take place at the Cobbler Shop in the future Greenspace: The boundary with the neighbors who abut the Greenspace still needs further research. Kathy will look into this. New Members: The guests at the meeting all expressed interest in joining the Heritage Commission as members and alternate members. Flower Planters and Watering : No new info Building Inspector/ Town Survey: No new info New Space for us: No new information Tricentennial Plans: no new information Topics on the back burner: stone wall mapping. Jay said that he was a forester and in the 1970's had been part of a team who mapped the state stone walls as part of a White Pine Blister Rust project. He said the records from that project are at the state archives building. Those records could be helpful to us for future projects.
