The Grantham Energy Committee meeting on February 9, 2026, reviewed minutes for submission to the town administrator. Regarding Community Power, CPCNH's Granite Basic default rate for residential and small commercial customers will increase from 13.419 cents/kWh to 14.663 cents/kWh. The committee discussed the CPCNH "Refresh" policy of sending postcards to new residents. A suggestion was made to inform residents via the weekly newsletter that they could opt out of CPCNH if Eversource proves less expensive. Sullivan County has adopted CPCNH for county towns. The committee noted that Selectmen have approved a plan to participate in the Warner Poverty Plains PV project, which starts in 2026 with progressing construction. This project will save the town 1.5 cents/kWh, or 12%, over Eversource rates, with Grantham constituting 1% of the total 5 MW. HB 1002, a property tax exemption bill, passed the State House, and the state is hiring a consultant to assess disconnecting from the regional grid. (kWh)
A. Status of PUC on Eversource rate changes and requests.
B. State HB 1002, Property tax exemption bill status. (the bill passed in the State House)
C. The New Hampshire Department of Energy is hiring a consultant to assess
whether it would be feasible for the state to cut itself off or step back from the regional power grid.
Discussion on "Refresh" policy of CPCNH where they send reminder postcards to residents that have
moved to Grantham in the past year or so and remind them that they can sign up for Community Power.
A suggestion was made that Eversource is less expensive than CPCNH that Grantham could notify
residents in the weekly online newsletter that they can opt out if desired.

Town will save 1.5 cents/KWH over Eversource rates. or 12% , Grantham is only 1% of the total 5 MW
Selectmen have approved a plan to participate. Start up in 2026, construction is progressing.
